AI & Creativity
Jenn is interested in the ways in which science and technology impact the process of creativity and cultural reproduction. In particular, Jenn’s research project ‘AI, What’s That Sound?’ focuses on the sonic representation of AI.
This work explores the ethics of Conversational AI, voice rights and AI voice cloning, representation of AI in documentaries and public attitudes to AI use in music and gig-going. Jenn has also worked on the ethics of conversational AI for children’s storytelling.
Setting The Legal Tone
How do we regulate the rights of our voices in an age of AI?
This project is a Yorvoice collaboration between the Departments of Law, Linguistics and Sociology at the University of York. In this project we ask; what are the characteristics of personality in voice and can they be protected? And can a framework concerning the rights and responsibilities of voice personality be developed? (How) can we trust AI voices? How is AI voice cloning debated and discussed in the media?
